The launch of the University of Hespérides’ first Spanish Masters Program focused solely on Bitcoin, making headlines. The fully online program will begin on April 28, aimed at professionals who want to understand Bitcoin from different angles – Bernard is just a price chart and trading platform.

According to the announcement, students will be trained in four key areas: technology, law, economics and philosophy. This is because global interest in Bitcoin is growing, especially in areas where formal crypto education is restricted.

Extensive courses for Bitcoin learners

The program is designed to cover everything from how Bitcoin works at the code level to what it means to the global economy. It will also explore rules and policies to shape how Bitcoin is used around the world.

Course topics include the origin story of Bitcoin, its technical composition, economic model, and the legal issues it adopts. Business strategies related to Bitcoin are also part of the course.

Program Director ÁlvaroD. María said the goal is to close the information gap and provide students with the tools they need to interact with Bitcoin in a smart and responsible way.

“The program aims to close the gap and train professionals who will work with Bitcoin to interact responsibly,” Maria said.

Not just a deal

Unlike a course that focuses only on investment or speculation, this course will treat Bitcoin as a currency system. Students will study the comparison of Bitcoin to traditional funds and why it attracts such a huge world.

The program will also work to give students insight into what makes Bitcoin unique: supply constraints, decentralized structures, work on protocols, and more. The discussion will also include different regulations in each country and symbols of the future of Bitcoin.

Part of the growing global trend

The University of Hespérides is certainly not the only place to add Bitcoin to its ever-expanding list of academic disciplines. In the United States, the University of Cincinnati began incorporating Bitcoin and Web3 into its courses in 2022. In Central America, the nonprofit MI Primer Bitcoin (MI Primer Biter) based in El Salvador was conducted in 2023 with the Ministry of Education to provide Bitcoin courses.

Even schools outside the university system are involved. The Lomond School in the UK became the first school in the country to accept Bitcoin for tuition fees. The school also plans to offer courses on Bitcoin and blockchain starting in fall 2025.
