Tron blames social engineering attacks on hacker X accounts

Tron’s official X account was compromised on May 2, and the convoy has now confirmed that the attack was caused by a social engineering attack. The hackers used the account to advertise the contract address and allegedly sent a direct message to the user and followed the suspicious account before Tron took back the control.
As Tron Dao reported, any direct messages posted by their X account must be ignored. The user is also instructed to delete any direct messages from the same day, as this is already included in the plan for hackers to plan to distribute malicious information and interact with unsuspecting users.
Attacks related to team members’ trade-off accounts
Tron Dao announced that the attack began with one of his team members and became a victim of social engineering skills. Once the hacker gains access to the team member accounts, they can control the blockchain’s main X account. Even after TRON restored access, the attacker continued to contact others using the hijacked personal account.
We know that our X account was damaged from 9:25 am on May 2, 2025. During this period, the unauthorized party posted a post containing a contract address (CA), sent a direct message (DMS), and followed various accounts unknown to us.
Please remind: Tron Dao will…

Tron reports that it is currently checking the incident and has identified several X and telegram addresses for the hacker. The team confirmed that it had contacted law enforcement officers and has now interacted with the case.

Dispute between Sun and OKX due to freezing requirements
Tron founder Justin Sun asked OKX to freeze the hack-related wallet. Sun said in a deleted tweet that the stolen funds in the stolen have been transferred to the exchange and claimed that law enforcement has issued a freeze notice to OKX’s official channels.
Dear Mr. Justin Sun, we are still waiting to execute the request file. Thank you for deleting all the confusing public newsletters!

But OKX CEO XU responded in public, rejecting any formal request received by the exchange. He claimed that the company’s legal team scanned all post-mail messages, including spam folders, and could not find anything.

Xu then challenged the Sun to generate evidence by posting a requested screenshot. This public exchange may have forced the Sun to delete his original post.
Tron continues to upgrade
Despite this incident, Tron is still busy with development. The network recently launched a new version of its Kant mainnet upgrade. The update features redesigning its contract event system as well as enhanced API and node performance. These improvements are expected to enhance the way blockchain interacts with Ethereum and make it safer and more efficient in the background.
While average users may not pay attention to these changes, Tron explains that they are key to long-term development. They said their aim is to make large operations and networks a reconciliation framework that will be more robust.
