American fast food chains cryptocurrencies nationwide

American fast food steak chain ‘N Shake will start implementing Bitcoin payments at all its U.S. restaurants starting May 16. The news announced on May 9 through a tweet on X, where the company issued an announcement: “The movement has just begun and signed it as “Steaktoshi”.
Many people have been waiting for the news in the crypto community that has been speculating since March, when the chain initially asked followers whether they should accept Bitcoin.
Dorsey provides public recognition
Jack Dorsey, former Twitter CEO and longtime Bitcoin supporter, provided a hearty “yes” when asked on social media a few weeks ago. The response of one word caused a buzz and kept the debate alive. Since then, Steak’N Shake has encouraged Bitcoin-related promotions on its website, such as Tesla giveaways and ambiguous coded information, to attract interest.

Steak’N Shake became one of the few national restaurant chains, from testing water to full input. This is not a beta test. Starting May 16, every customer who wishes to use Bitcoin to buy burgers, fries and milkshakes can do this in restaurants in all U.S. regions.
More than 100 million customers can use Bitcoin
According to the company, more than 100 million customers nationwide will be able to use the new payment method. That was a lot of audiences. While other chains have already dabbled in cryptocurrencies, most chains save it to certain locations or have limited trials.
Chipotle has received cryptocurrency payments from its start with a service called Flexa, which accepts about 100 cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, Ethereum and Solana.
Since 2013, the Metro has tested cryptocurrencies. McDonald’s made a Bitcoin payment in Lugano, Switzerland. Pizza Hut and Burger King have tested and introduced limited promotions and trials, especially in countries such as El Salvador, where Bitcoin is a fiat tender.
Encryption and fast food sharing history
The connection between Bitcoin and fast food is nothing new. In 2010, a Florida man named Laszlo Hanyecz paid 10,000 BTC for two pizzas. Today, that will be worth hundreds of millions of dollars. The day he celebrates the money every year is Bitcoin Pizza Day.
Now, ten years later, Steak’N Shake offers the connection a modern “flavor” that allows customers to pay in the same digital currency.
Payment technology keeps moving forward
Steak’n Shake Announcements will be easier to use as cryptocurrency payments are getting easier to use. In April, a company called Mesh launched Apple Pay integration, which allows merchants to accept cryptocurrencies through Apple Pay.
