XRP’s market value jumped by $16.6 billion – Fees? You won’t believe it

XRP’s valuation is about $16.6 billion in just 13 hours of space overnight, but blockchain data researcher DOM (@traderview2) said net inflows will increase movement in the movement to $61 million.

“Have you ever thought about how much it would cost to increase XRP market cap by 16.6b? …$61m. This is the net market buying pressure we have seen in the past 13 hours.”

Dom’s figures suggest that every fresh exchange dollar is leveraged more than 270 times, a point that emphasizes when Chartists Egrag Egrag Crypto (@egragcrypto) answers that under normal conditions, the relationship between net flow and obvious value expansion can range from “15× to 30×”.

The overnight episode shows why market cap (circulation times last price) is a context-free snapshot, not a cash-backed balance sheet number: only marginal transactions can instantly remark the price as each supply unit.

How does XRP’s $61 million cause this?

The microstructure of the order book provides the first clue. Most of the liquidity in centralized sites such as hosting, Upbit, and Coinbase is located outside the top of the book; the visible difference can be millimeters thick compared to billions of supposed floats.

When incremental bids walk, both automatic marketers and human marketers can adjust higher abilities and each upgrade immediately re-estimate each coin for each coin. The result is that the geometric expansion (or contraction) of market capitalization greatly exceeds the basic cash flow until the depth of arbitrage or profit recovery.

The XRP case also highlights the key differences between the realized hats – the money the holder actually pays and the title cap. Ripple’s quarterly report shows that about half of the supply has not been emitted yet, meaning that the effective free float is even smaller than the original 59 billion figures. When a dormant coin cannot actively reach bids, small traffic exceeds its weight. Analysts warn that the same mechanical effect can work in reverse, exaggerating the sell-off when breaking down liquidity.

For traders, the episode “reminders the focus on volume-weighted liquidity metrics, not vanity hat tables”, DOM concluded. Whether it’s treating the 16-hour spike as a bullish signal or statistical curiosity, it tells in a timely manner how the crypto market is still trading like border stocks more like mature commodities: the price is set as profit margins, which can be a razor.

At press time, XRP changed hands at $2.50, with 24-hour turnover just over $11 billion, bringing the token’s market cap to $146.2 billion and cementing its fourth place.
