UPI is my preferred payment method because it works for millions of others as well. Nowadays, most of us carry only the least amount of cash, because now every vendor or store has a UPI. In India’s most successful campaign, we can say that UPI payments are safer than other payment methods, but are not immune to scams. People who cheat us have become more innovative and creative in terms of methods. Now, there are some apps that are perfect copies of the UPI app we use, minus the actual money. These apps will generate deductions on store owners’ Soundbox animations, sounds, and even announcements.

Now, you can’t stop all the scammers, but you can certainly enable the settings I’ll share in this article. With these settings enabled, you will never be a prey to a UPI scam.

The best way to prevent UPI fraud

Scammers have been strengthening the game and now they have featured apps that can mimic the original UPI payment app. You will receive notifications, sounds, and even reference IDs for transactions. Even UPI Soundbox vendors use to announce payments for these fake apps. It’s both impressive and frightening. So to avoid this, I have curated my own list and will share it with you. First, enable the payment app’s email notification settings. This is what you can do,

1. Enable payment notifications for UPI applications

When enabled, you will receive an email notification for every transaction made using the UPI application. This is a great way to know if money is debited or credited from your account. If you’re cheated, this can save you. The steps to enable it are mentioned below.

1. Open the UPI application you are using.

2. I’m using Paytm. Click the upper left corner of the profile icon.

3. Scroll down Configuration file settings And open them.

4. Then, click from there Management Notification.

5. Switch Push and email notifications Used for payment.

2. Tracking electronic communication book

Another most useful way is to keep track of your email book. Simply turn on the pass on your phone and refresh after receiving the payment. I know that if you run a busy show, it can be dull, but it’s still safer than losing money. This is a foolproof way that you can’t be fooled. You can also do the same with the transaction history of any UPI application you are using.

3. Enable email and SMS notifications

The final setup you need to know is notifications for the native banking app you use. Yes, if you enable notification alerts on your banking app, you will get an alert every time a transaction occurs. This can be done directly from the application. When enabled, you will receive an alert via email or text message on your registered mobile number.

1. Open your preferred banking app.

2. Search for the Notification or Alert settings. This option will vary by bank.

3. Our banking app has a Manage Alerts part.

4. Here we can set alerts for balance changes, debit notifications, and many other types of transactions.
