Purchase the proof point of the wasp in the script to expand the scope of email security

One of the many large-scale purchases in the industry

While the terms are confidential, sources report that the Hornets purchase price expected to close in the second half of 2025 will exceed $1 billion. This will make it the largest acquisition of Proofpoint and one of the largest cybersecurity deals in recent years.

Proof Point also reaped the benefits of Hornets’ own acquisition strategy. In March 2024, it acquired Vade, an AI-based email security platform, analyzing more than 2.5 billion messages per day. This helps Hornets enhance its detection capabilities for Business Email Compromise (BEC) and Spear phishing. The company has also enhanced its platform with several other acquisitions, including Altospam (reverse phishing software), IT-SEAL (cybersecurity training), Zerospam (email security and anti-spam) and EveryCloud (email security).

Proofpoint has also been reportedly exploring other acquisitions and different funding routes as it prepares to return to the public market in 2026. Earlier this year, it also expanded its global partnership with Microsoft to enhance threat protection and data security using Microsoft Azure’s AI capabilities and cloud infrastructure.
