“Our Last” Season 2, Episode 6 hurts your heart? So are we.

If you think that Joel’s death would be the most heartbreaking part Our last one Season 2, you’ll be wrong.

The honor falls in season 2, episode 6, a flashback plot from Jackson’s Joel and Ellie (Bella Ramsey) era and why they separate.

The heartbreaking waves of this episode. The early sequences of Joel and Ellie’s happiest memories become tragically bittersweet, learning about what is about to happen. Of course, watching both fall off is a sure recipe for sadness. By the end of an hour, your eyes will be wet and your heart will break into a million chunks. But hey, at least we let Joel come back a little!

When young Joel’s father becomes vulnerable to parenting.

Episode 6 begins with a flashback to Austin in 1983, when young Joel (Andrew Diaz) tries to protect Tommy (David Miranda) from his father’s assault (Tony Dalton). But instead of physically punishing his two sons, Joel’s father decided to tell him a twisted blueprint about his father he inherited from his abused father and how he hoped to improve it slightly.

He told Joel that he told Joel, “I did a little better than my father.” “It’s your turn, I hope you do better than me.”

This line proves to be the paper for this episode, and Joel tried to do better than his own father during his time with Ellie. Knowing how limited the time is and how the two endings end – Launching Episode 6 Heartache. Guess what it is? It won’t relax anytime soon.

When the opening credits change to bring back Joel.

After Joel’s death Our last oneThe opening credits resulted in a devastating change. Instead of ending with the image of two fungal silhouettes, they represent Ellie and Joel, they ended with Ellie Silhouette, highlighting her new sense of loneliness. However, in episode 6, Joel Silhouette is back! It was both a welcome reward and a reminder of the time we borrowed the pair. Who knows the shadow of fungi will make me so excited?

When Joel sang “The Days of the Future” to Ellie.

Many elements of Ellie’s 15th birthday dragged the heartstrings, from Joel’s reaction to burning her arm to cover up her bite and give him a custom guitar for her. But the moment when the floodgates are open is undoubtedly Joel’s rendition of Pearl Jam’s Future Days (Ellie herself ridiculed in Episode 5).

The lyrics of the song – “If I Lose You/I Will Lose myself for sure” – are an exciting reminder that what Ellie and Joel mean by each other. (It’s also a dark omen of how Ellie lost herself in the Revenge Mission.) But the performance is also a reward for the theme of Season 1’s story, when Ellie asked Ellie to invite Joel to sing for her and teach her to play the guitar. Well, this finally happened, I won’t blame you for the tears.

After a full season and a half, watching Joel and Ellie run from infected and human enemies (in Joel’s case, death), either of which can relax and enjoy any scene of themselves is a blessing. Ally’s 16th birthday is so lucky!

Joel takes Ellie to the museum, where she spends a day climbing up the dinosaur statue and blowing up space in old capsules. In one of the most poignant moments of the season, her imagined space flight becomes reality, and the light of the real world gradually fades around her until she drifts through dark space.

The entire sequence is Joel and Ellie’s happiest. She was actually a child, and Joel knew she did a great job as a father, and Joel was intoxicated by her joy.

Of course, the scene was also calm before the storm. Ellie insists that the reason she patrols reminds people of the dangers Jackson faces and that the fateful patrol will one day tear Joel off her forever. For now, though, we can enjoy Joel in dad mode, trying to “talk” to Ellie while knowing nothing about her sexual behavior. Talk about bittersweetness.

When Ellie moved out of the house.

If Ellie’s 16th birthday is Joel’s dream, then her 17th birthday is his nightmare. He walked into her smoking pot, got a tattoo, and hooked up with Kate (Noah Lamanna). As he said, “All teenage shits at once.”

While Joel’s angry dad performance seemed fun at first-worse, dodge clicker or teenage rebellion? – It quickly entered depressing territory. He thinks Ellie’s relationship with Kate’s “experiment” is terrible, simple and clear, and his assertion that Ellie is not himself at the moment. No wonder Ellie wants to move into the garage: having her own father’s figure refuted her identity, which marks a major blow to their bond.

Thankfully, Joel realizes that he’s wrong in his way and tries to help by giving Ellie more space, but the struggle and subsequent moves mark the ending of Joel and Ellie. You want to grab them through the screen and shout at them to communicate with each other, only a few years left. Instead, all you can do is watch the tragic snowball.

When we understand what Ellie’s moth tattoo means.

One of Joel’s attempts to connect with Ellie Post-Fight was to ask her about her moth tattoo. It echoed her paintings, which he used as inspiration when decorating the guitar. Ellie said she chose moths because of what they represent in their dreams. Joel mistakenly believes that this is a symbol of change and perversion, but therapist Gail (Catherine O’Hara) reveals the fact: they represent death.

This means Ellie has been carrying the deaths of everyone she lost, such as Storm Reid, her mother (Ashley Johnson), and so on. It seems to be the only person in the world who is not immune to Cordyceps, and there is also a layer of survivors here. Ellie is surrounded by death, but is also protected. It was a huge burden to take, it defined her entire adulthood, and Joel would never really understand it.

When Ellie questioned what happened in Salt Lake City.

On Ellie’s 19th birthday, she got what she wanted since moving to Jackson: patrol with Joel. But now, she wants something else, too: answering what really happened in Salt Lake City at the end of Season 1.

She sat in her room, rehearsing questions about Salt Lake City before she and Joel headed to patrol. “If fireflies found us a mile from the hospital, how could they be surprised by the entire raider?” she wondered. “If the raiders could kill all these soldiers and Marlene and you had to bring me all the time, how did we escape?”

These brief moments show how Ellie replayed this crucial day, how these differences were eating on her for years. Deep down, she knew Joel was lying to her. Perhaps subconscious knowledge influenced her need for Joel for space, further expanding the rift that Joel might attribute to teen rebellion. According to episode 1, we know that the Rift is about to get bigger, so the question that includes Ellie here indicates that another shoe is about to fall off.

When we finally understand what happened to Eugene.

This is a big guy, guys. Since Episode 1 Our last one Always talking about Joel’s killing of Gale’s husband, Eugene (Joe Pantoliano). Now, we can finally see it work.

Eugene was marked as dead from the moment she was infected on patrol. He accepted that, but man, his last moment stinged. It all started when Allie insisted that Eugene had enough time to get back to Jackson and say goodbye before Gale turned completely, and she assured Joel that he would help. But Joel wants to protect Ellie and Jackson, and still delivers on his promise and shoots Eugene anyway. Not only is this a cruel betrayal of Eugene, who has gained a few seconds of false hope before reality, but Ellie also realizes that Joel’s promise reflects his commitment to her after the incident in Salt Lake City.

She said: “You swear.

Ellie’s discovery of Joel’s lies is different in the show than in a game where Eugene has died of a stroke. Still, watching her put the pieces together – watching Joel betray her after a relationship seems to be temporarily patching up – is nothing more than devastating.

When Joel and Ellie take steps to recover in the porch scene.

So far, episode 6 reveals why Joel and Ellie are not talking at the beginning of Season 2 and what happened to Eugene. There is another major question to answer: The night before Joel passed away, let Ellie say she and Joel were “better now”?

The answer airs in the gorgeous final scene of Episode 6, which is a continuation of the porch scene in Episode 1. Here, Our last one It was revealed that Ellie was not only seeing Joel on the porch at night, not only at night. Instead, she came back and asked him, pointing blankly at what he had done to the fireflies. Her questioning is a direct similarity to Kaitlyn Dever’s interrogation of Kaitlyn Dever before Joel’s death: both know Joel’s role in the Holocaust, but they want to hear him.

The subsequent conversation was filled with lines of the gut fist. Ellie learns that the Cordyceps healing method will kill her, and Ellie says, “Then I should die! That’s my purpose. My life will be important. But you took it from me, you took it from everyone.”

Joel’s response? “Yes, I’ll pay.”

He hardly knew he would pay the final price the next day. In fact, the whole scene is more painful to know that the forgiveness journey that Ellie hopes to initiate will be shortened within a few hours. Episode 6, you’ve already made me tear a few times before, but this might bring a cake.

Adding salt to the wound is the last callback to Austin’s flashback. “If you should have [a child] Well, I hope you can do better than me. ” Joel told Ellie.

After Ellie’s reaction to Dina’s pregnancy, the line was particularly tough: “I want to be a dad.”

so, Our last one The complete circle makes Episode 6 an amazing, heartbreaking parent story and a highlight of the season.
