Adidas customers’ personal information is at risk after data breach

Adidas clothing lovers were wise to oppose phishing attacks after German sportswear giant revealed that cyber attacks exposed customers’ personal information.

Adidas said in a statement published on its website that it recently realized that “certain consumer data” had been stolen by “unauthorized external parties.”

According to the company, the security breach occurred with unnamed third-party customer service providers, not on Adidas’ own systems. But it won’t be comforting for individuals who may now be in the hands of fraudsters and cybercriminals.

The good news is that Adidas said the affected data does not include passwords or details related to payments. Instead, according to the company, “it consists primarily of contact information related to consumers who have contacted our customer service help desk in the past.”

Adidas said it has notified relevant regulators and authorities and will contact consumers affected by the data breach.

The company has not yet said how many people are affected by security breaches, how or when they encounter them. Hopefully, there is a relatively low number of people who have to buy adidas clothing and shoes each year.

Sadly, this is not the only cybersecurity incident that has affected Adidas in recent weeks.

As Angry computer Reportedly, Adidas did reveal earlier this month that customers in Turkey and South Korea who contacted its customer service center already had their contact information (including names, email addresses, phone numbers, dates of birth and postal addresses).

The company also notified relevant authorities about the security incident and will remind those affected by the data breach.

So don’t be surprised if you receive an email from Adidas.

However, my advice is to be very cautious about how you respond to emails claimed to be from Adidas. After all, criminals may now have your contact information.

It’s not hard to imagine that anyone who has access to adidas customer data may now recall a scam email claiming to be from adidas, apologizes for the data breach, and if you only visit the link below and enter your payment information, some type of voucher is offered…

Customers who have interacted with Adidas Customer Service in the past recommend staying alert for potential phishing attempts and reporting any suspicious communications to the company.

Safely trampling on everyone.
