Apple’s new homepod with monitors may arrive by the end of 2025

Apple’s new HomePod will have a showcase and will likely arrive later this year.

This is according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman (via 9to5mac), who claims the device will be launched by the end of the year, although he admits the timing is uncertain.

The new device will be a smart home speaker with an additional display (previously rumored 7-inch), which should one day be the core of Apple’s smart home technology. According to previous reports, other features include support for Apple Intelligence, cameras, smart home controls and rechargeable batteries. While the device will have built-in speakers, Apple may position it as a smart hub, not just a home speaker.

This new gadget was originally scheduled to be launched in 2024, but many delays are pushing it into the future.

According to Gurman, the main culprit behind the delay is Siri, Apple’s smart assistant. Apple, once a pioneer in the field, has been working hard to bring its AI assistant to the level that competitors offer, including Openai’s Chatgpt and Google’s Gemini.

When HomePod-a-display finally launches, it could be the first of several AI-centric devices Apple plans to further produce. This includes a more futuristic version with robotic arms; Gurman now claims that after the first market, we can expect it to be “a year or two.”
