Microsoft launches European security program to address nation-state threats

Microsoft has announced a comprehensive cybersecurity program that will provide European governments with free AI-driven defense tools, facing growing attacks from state-funded hackers from Russia, China, Iran and North Korea.
Unveiled in Berlin by Microsoft Vice President Brad Smith, the European Security Program will provide threat intelligence, automatic attack disruption and investigation support to all 27 EU member states, the UK, EU member states and members of the European Free Trade Association.
“The ransomware groups and state-sponsored actors from Russia, China, Iran and North Korea continue to grow in scope and maturity, and European cyber protection cannot withstand immobile stillness,” Smith wrote in a blog post.
