I tried Dyson’s new pencenvac. Here’s what you need to know

Attached to the pencil are four conical brush rods called fluff. There are two brush rods on both sides, the front cone rotates in one direction, and the rear brush is the opposite. Four strips also stick out of the side. This way, it cleans every direction on every pass on the floor.

It also shoots green lasers from both front and back of the cleaning head to illuminate the dust, making it easier to spot particles that are less visible to the naked eye. However, unlike Dyson’s detection line (which also includes lasers), it does not have a piezoelectric sensor, which is what makes a specific vacuum lineup automatically increase suction power based on what it picks up.

Apart from dust and debris, this vacuum is also ideal for picking up hair. The angle of the nylon bristles is to ensure the chains migrate to the sides of the cleaning head, rather than being wrapped or tangled in the brush rod. So you don’t have to pull your hair out or resort to scissors.

As mentioned before, you can also connect it to the Mydyson application. This provides step-by-step guide on how to take care of vacuums, while also providing real-time access to other setup and maintenance alerts.

Lightweight and agile

I had the opportunity to view and test the pencenvac in a face-to-face media briefing at Dyson’s Soho store location in New York City and was surprised at how much the redesigned build would have. Without the bin, it doesn’t feel too clumsy and clumsy, which will certainly make a difference for longer cleaning classes. There are no triggers, either, which makes it more comfortable. Instead, Dyson integrates an LCD screen on the handle that displays cleaning mode and run time.

I used it to clean up a small piece of Cheerios, Cookie Crumbs and hair in just a few seconds as all four brush poles work at the same time to pick up everything quickly. I’m a big fan of LEDs on both sides because that means I can spend less time flipping the vacuum to light on certain locations like the way I use the V12 detection (8/10, wired recommendation).

Like all Dyson’s cordless vacuums, it will convert to a manual vacuum. Each Pencilvac is equipped with a rotating combined gap tool for cleaning between areas and conical screw tools for cleaning sofas and mattresses. A smaller, longer build can make it better to reach higher and lower positions, but it is also easier to use with one hand.

I was glad to see it with a floor dock instead of a mount. The vacuum and accessories are conveniently magnetically fixed to the dock, so it is easy to grasp and put back in place. The entire setup looks super neat, too. The way to have to dial out the power tool to drill the mount on the wall is a better option.

My only grip is battery life, which makes sense for such a small vacuum. Dyson requires up to 30 minutes in ECO mode, which minimizes suction to optimize runtime. This means that in medium or enhanced mode it is even less. However, you can buy an extra battery pack and swap it to always technically charge.

Depending on the capacity and running time of the bin, this is definitely a vacuum designed for smaller houses and spaces that are mainly composed of hardwood floors. Anyway, I hope this marks the beginning of a new era of Dyson’s exquisite vacuum, which is free for chonky dustbins, cycle and Motors.
