Microsoft appoints European Deputy CISO to Reassure European IT Leader

Johnson, who has held various senior cybersecurity roles at Microsoft since joining the software giant in December 2015, has not answered any questions about whether she would move to Europe in Europe, or has not answered temporary or expected questions about her holding the position. She forwarded the query to Microsoft PR, which declined to comment.

In his LinkedIn post, Tsyganskiy explained that the Cybersecurity Commission, established in 2024, consists of “the global CISO and deputy CISOs (CISOs) who represent each of our technology services. The committee oversees the company’s cyber risk, defense risks, regional, and compliance across regions.”

“Europe’s Deputy CISO will comply with current and emerging cybersecurity regulations in Europe, including the Digital Operations Resilience Act (DORA), NIS 2 Directive and the Cyber Resilience Act (CRA),” Tsyganskiy wrote. “These laws are not only transformative in the EU market, but globally, Microsoft is actively involved in preparing for things in the future.”
