Motorola Razr Ultra and Razr (2025) Review: Gorgeous Folding Phone

Adding a third entry in the RAZR series adds unnecessary complexity, so I’ve added a spec sheet here to help you understand these devices. Essentially, the RAZR Ultra is the best, with the latest flagship Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, higher storage and RAM options, the largest battery, faster charging speeds, dedicated AI buttons, and even a more durable ceramic glass screen. It also has a better camera and is the only one that offers Dolby Vision recording for more colors in the video. The Razr+ is located on a track below, despite its battery life being its weakness as it has the smallest capacity, while the Razr offers a standard basic experience, although it remains one of the cheapest fold-over phones.

The performance is excellent, although this makes more sense on the basic RAZR model, which gave me some fluctuating performance in previous models. You may still see some Studters here and there on your $700 phone, but that’s very little, and overall, I’m very happy with it. Even if I prefer the slightly larger screen on the Razr Ultra, these monitors (external and internal) are treble. They get very bright and the high refresh rate makes everything appear smooth.

There isn’t much difference in battery capacity between the RAZR Ultra and the Razr, and my results are no surprise. These phones lasted all day, while there were 25% to 30% left before bed, using on average. If your screen time is extended by five to six hours, you may need to charge your phone in the middle of the day.

I want to see an improvement in a future version (I mentioned earlier) around opening the phone. It might just be my short nails and thick thumbs, but putting my fingers into the gap and spreading the razr is a small effort. Small lips will help. Thankfully, you can make the external display more functional without turning on your phone often and use the new widget panel for audible information.
