Reitar LogTech announces $1.5 billion Bitcoin acquisition plan

Reitar Logtech Holdings Ltd., a Hong Kong-based real estate and logistics technology company, has officially announced plans to purchase up to $1.5 billion in Bitcoin. The move was disclosed in a June 2 filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

According to the document, the strategic Bitcoin acquisition aims to accelerate the company’s global expansion in logistics technology infrastructure to strengthen Reitar’s Treasury reserves. The announcement matches Reitar LogTech with an increasing number of international companies as reserve assets.

By incorporating Bitcoin into its financial strategy, Reitar LogTech’s goal is to increase its holdings beyond traditional fiat and fixed income products. By adopting strategic BTC reserves, the company aims to benefit from Bitcoin’s liquidity, 24/7 markets and hedge against long-term inflation and currency devaluation.

The SEC application describes the plan as follows: “Reitar Logtech Holdings Ltd. announced the acquisition of $1.5 billion strategic Bitcoin (BTC) to enhance treasury reserves and accelerate global logistics technology expansion.transparent

The document was signed by Reitar Logtech’s chairman and CEO Kin Chung Chan, who confirmed that the document was filed under the Securities Exchange Act of 1934.

Although the specific timing of the acquisition has not been disclosed, analysts believe that large-scale buys can be made at the stage to manage market impact and align with internal capital strategies. It is not clear whether the purchase will be made through the spot market, custodian or structured investment vehicle.

Adoption also brings a broader trend to allocate Bitcoin to companies that have their balance sheets. Reitar joins companies such as strategic companies that not only use Bitcoin for financial positioning, but are long-term assets.
