Roswell first holds BTC reserves in the United States

Roswell, New Mexico, became the first city in the United States to have an official Bitcoin reserve, making history in municipal financing.
Small donations enable big plans to promote emergency fund
According to city officials, initial contributions to 3,050,323 satoshis (0.0305 BTC) will form the basis of a more important financial plan.
The city accepted its first crypto donation of 0.0305 BTC (approximately $2,845) on April 29, 2025 to launch an official called the “Roswell Strategic Bitcoin Reserve.”
Crypto reserve growth
Over the course of a decade, the reserve will be increased through further Bitcoin donations and sponsorships. According to a report by the City Council, cryptocurrency hoards must accumulate to a value of $1 million before it can be used as an emergency fund.

The city will take strict controls to oversee cryptocurrency reserves. Any expenditure on reserves will require unanimous approval from the City Council.
The regulations allow 21% of the total reserves every five years to be spent every five years, with initial priority initially prioritizing assisting elderly people in paying water fees and supporting emergency relief efforts.

Other states turn toward Bitcoin investment
Roswell’s leading move was done by some states considering the same cryptocurrency measures. The Arizona legislature recently approved Senate Bills 1025 and 1373, which would enable the state finance and pension funds to invest 10% of the remaining balance in virtual currency. The measures are now signed with Gov. Katie Hobbs.
Crypto reserves are popular nationwide
The trends in national reserves are beyond New Mexico, Arizona, Alabama and North Carolina. Texas, California, Florida and New Hampshire are reportedly interested in creating their own BTC reserves.

This emerging trend shows a significant change in how state and local governments view cryptocurrency holdings. Although bonds and stocks have traditionally held the impact of government fiscal for hundreds of years, Bitcoin will now focus on viable alternatives to public inventory.
Roswell’s new encounter: cryptocurrency enters city track
In a city that has long been a mystery outside of this world, Roswell now naturally leads the way to an unorthodox financial future.
Roswell, who became the first municipality in the United States to use Bitcoin as a reserve asset, once again positioned himself at the forefront of an otherworldly story—but, this time, the flying object is digitally oriented.
