CISA’s alert pivot reflects a new era of dispersed cyber threat communication

To redefine how the U.S. government communicates cyber threats to the public and businesses, the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) announced a significant shift in its alert dissemination strategy.

Going forward, only high-priority alerts related to emerging threats or major cyber activities will be posted on the agency’s cybersecurity alerts and consulting pages. General updates and known vulnerabilities previously posted on the website will now be distributed via email, RSS feeds, and X (formerly Twitter).

This shift will happen as federal agencies communicate with the public and key stakeholders amid technological and political pressures. For businesses, this marks a turning point in how they can get, explain and act under federal cybersecurity guidance.
