Smarter AI-powered Siri won’t participate in WWDC 2025

“Significant upgrades to Siri—including the ones promised nearly a year ago—are unlikely to be discussed much and are still months away from shipping,” said Gurman in an-depth report that detailed Apple leader’s reported failures to recognize the significance of generalized AI for consumer tech products and subsequent issues in rolling out a smarter Siri driven by powerful LLMs and onscreen awareness.

Gurman said at Apple WWDC 2025, less than a month away from June 9, the event will reportedly highlight “various non-AI software upgrades”, such as reported interface design overhauls to make the operating systems of iPhone, iPad and Mac more in the way of Vision Pro.

Mixable light speed

Reports about Siri’s troubles have been in the works for some time. Apple’s commitment to a more personalized and context-aware version of voice assistants has not been realized yet, instead, we’ve seen the capabilities of Siri input, even Siri’s examples get worse. Apple even posed with actor Bella Ramsey, where Siri was able to answer who they had lunch with by accusing false ads.

Gurman reported that Apple is developing a Siri-specific LLM known as “LLM Siri” which is reportedly going to solve many infrastructure problems. Until then, at this year’s WWDC, Siri should not expect too much.
