Steak’N Shake reveals Bitcoin’s success at conference 2025

Steak’N Sheak’N Shake Director Dan Edwards spoke at this morning’s Bitcoin 2025 conference, sharing new data and insights from the company’s recent acceptance of global Bitcoin payments through the Lightning Network.

“On May 16, we began accepting Bitcoin as payments for all locations that allow law to do so,” Edwards began. “This is global implementation.”

According to Edwards, Bitcoin transactions have exceeded expectations. “The day we launched Bitcoin, 1 out of every 500 bitcoin transactions in the world happened in the steak’n shake,” he said.

Steak’n Shake also greatly saves processing costs. “Bitcoin is faster than credit cards and when customers choose to pay with Bitcoin, we will save 50% of processing fees,” Edwards said. “This makes Bitcoin a victory for customers, a victory for us and a victory for the Bitcoin community.”

He stressed that the decision was not a promotional stunt, but a serious payment upgrade. “We don’t see it as a marketing head. We see it as a viable payment option, comparable to other approaches accepted worldwide.”

The company reported that customer behavior had changed. “We have seen continuous spikes since the increase in Bitcoin,” Edwards noted.

Edwards also teased the company’s future plans and asked for more technical talents. “We are not done yet. We are investing in online chefs, autonomous driving, AI technology, and we need engineers to help us build it.”

To celebrate Bitcoin integration, a limited-edition Bitcoin-themed menu item launched this week in Las Vegas and includes Bitcoin burgers, oversized bitcoin meals and bitcoin milkshakes. The “blockchain menu” is still in progress.

“Celebrating the use of Bitcoin,” Edwards concluded. “Because this is just the beginning.”
