The Best Cheap TVs (2025): TCL, HISSENS and more

The short answer is price, performance and availability. Most of the average person who asked me about new TVs were looking for something worth $500 or under. A few hundred dollars jump can usually bring you more performance value, but I know this may not be on the budget, so this list is usually designed to be magic numbers or below. To get there, we made a slight sacrifice of size, and we usually recommend a 55-inch model instead of the industry-standard 65-inch size. Not everyone needs a larger screen, and the bigger you go, the more performance flaws you will find.

As the TV gets bigger and bigger, it becomes more and more difficult to find a good TV. Smaller Over 55 inches, especially if you want features like high dynamic range and quantum dot colors that make the picture more vibrant and impactful. These features are often on par with 4K resolution, so while you may not mind getting an HDTV in smaller sizes, all TVs we recommend using offer 4K resolution. Whenever possible, we look for models that offer a variety of size options to cater to all buyers and use cases.
