Switch 2 lists on eBay: Be careful

As of this writing, we are about five hours away from the first midnight launch party for the US Switch 2. However, on eBay, we identified over 100 lists of Switch 2 consoles that have not yet been released.
Nintendo is expected to sell 20 million switches for 2 units next year, but for many gamers, booking is difficult. (Check the latest stocks before posting.) This can make the eBay list very tempting.
Most of the eBay listings for this console cost between $650 and $750, which is a lot worth mentioning given that most sellers aren’t on hand yet. Although the console has been released in countries such as Australia, the first units will not be released in the United States until 12:01 a.m. on June 5. For gamers waiting for delivery, their console can take days or weeks to arrive.
While some of the eBay sellers we identified are located in Australia and may actually have consoles, other U.S. sellers only promise to sell consoles back Their “confirm booking” is here. Some sellers are using so-called Walmart screenshots and target booking confirmation pages or shipping tracking details. I know these lists may be tempting, but as a technical editor at Mashable, I recommend you buy them yourself through a retailer.
Mixable light speed
Nintendo has actually taken steps to stop this type of opportunism, at least in Japan. According to Verge, in Nintendo’s home country, the game company is working directly with third-party seller platforms such as Mercari and Rakuten to post-release Ban Switch 2 listings. Unfortunately, these plans do not include the United States.
At least for the time being, I will be very skeptical about these lists. The only 2 units we know of for the switch are the comment units, just like the ones Mashable received earlier today.
So while you can try your luck on the eBay list, we recommend being patient. Hopefully, once the console is officially launched, retailers will have a stable inventory for sale. Plus, we never want to encourage hoarding and price fraud.
We contacted eBay to ask if the early switch 2 eBay list violates any of its policies and we will update this post if we hear back. Meanwhile, continue to check out Nintendo and its official Switch 2 retailers to see if they have a stock console:
