The best automotive vacuum (2025), tested and reviewed

Honorary mention

Bissell Aeroslim handheld vacuum cleaner for $41: This is a great vacuum on a budget and a great detail cleaning option. It doesn’t have as many accessories as the Airify Pro V3, and the battery life isn’t as long (Aeroslim can only last until 12 minutes), but if you have a budget and are mostly battling with little mess, it’s a good option.

Bissell Pet Rubber Handmade Vacuum Cleaner for $80: This is our favorite handheld vacuum cleaner to clean your pet’s hair. If you want something that is really designed for other messes, that’s a great option.

The price of Dyson Humdinger is $290: This is another great Dyson handheld. Cars + boats are more powerful, and fools are more expensive, so using car + boats makes more sense. However, Beedinger is still an excellent handmade vacuum cleaner for getting in and out of a car.

Shark Ultraclone Pet Pro Plus Handheld Vacuum, priced at $80: This vacuum is made for pets, but is also perfect for kids’ car mess. I prefer the trials in this guide, but it’s still a solid handheld vacuum cleaner for cars and interiors.

What to look at or in a car vacuum

For this story, we focus on cordless handheld vacuums that are easy to manipulate inside the car. While you can use a wired design, electric outlets are not always easy to access in the garage or driveway and can make your car’s tasks seem more difficult. With wired vacuums, you’ll be able to move backwards with especially limited amounts, which is why we prefer handheld VACS.

A great automotive vacuum cleaner is not only portable, but also powerful. We tested whether the suction capacity is enough to clean your usual car mess, such as dirt, sand and larger debris. You don’t need a lot of vehicle cleaning, but you need a tool with at least one gap to get one between the seats, and if you have a pet, there are also some models that offer pet brush attachments. However, switching accessories isn’t always easy in cleaning cars, so I don’t recommend buying models just because you can use six accessories.

All models we recommend using have rechargeable batteries, although each model in the charger style may vary. Some work like power tools, the battery pops up to charge, while others just plug in the power cord to charge. Each draft pick has detailed information about its charger style.

Where should you store your car vacuum?

Should a car vacuum live in your car? Of course, I would love to hang my cute worms in my trunk for quick cleaning on the go. However, vacuum is not designed for outdoor use, nor is it used for extreme temperatures that can be achieved when sitting in the sun or in snow climates. It is best to vacuum the car into the garage or house. Especially because you need to charge these small vacuums frequently.

What about that vacuum?

Do you really need a special car vacuum, or do you have another vacuum that will work? Your classic upright vacuum works fine, but they frustrated it into the garage and connect it to the power supply, then put the hose in the car for use. If you want to buy a vacuum, I recommend using a cordless rod vacuum, as these vacuums usually break down into handheld vacuums. Check out our best cordless vacuum guide for more advice.
