ASUS patch allows critical router flaws to remote attacks

Additionally, Asus recommends disabling AICloud and any services that can be accessed from the Internet, such as WAN, WAN, port forwarding, DDNS, VPN server, DMZ port triggering, and FTP remote access as an alternative to the application.

“Use different passwords on your wireless network and router-admin page,” Asus said. “Use a password with at least 10 characters, and a mixture of capital letters, numbers and symbols. Do not use the same password for more than one device or service. Do not use passwords with continuous numbers or letters.”

Router defects can damage the network

While Asus has not disclosed whether flaws have been exploited in the wild, successful abuse of the problem could allow attackers to gain unauthorized access and perform critical router functions, potentially leading to network compromise and data flaking.
