Titanic didn’t even begin to describe the gaming laptop

Before we start this review, let’s avoid one thing. MSI’s Titan 18 HX is a clumsy, powerful and all-around gaming laptop with a minimum configuration starting at $5,279. If you want the best specs, it needs more wallets. This is also a price similar to the full-size, prefabricated desktops for all fixtures. The Titan 18 HX is a super noble desktop replacement, and when I say that, I mean from the whole term, it’s so size and cost, but it’s the closest to having a desktop tower that you can get from room to room.

MSI TITAN 18 HX

This behemoth-sized laptop offers strong performance in a great chassis with a great keyboard and display. It also costs over $5,000.

advantage

  • Performance is great for gaming and other intensive tasks
  • Mechanical keyboard feels incredible
  • Beautiful screen with good brightness
  • For devices of this size, the sound is solid and loud

shortcoming

  • Terrible battery life
  • RGB per key is not very bright
  • Astronomical (and rising) prices

If you can spend the necessary dough on this nearly eight-pound behemoth, the Titan 18 HX can be used as the mobile PC you need, as long as you can operate it away from the plug in less than two hours. With its excellent mechanical keyboard, it looks luxurious and has a high-quality mini-leading 4K display that looks good. However, you should know – 未分类 – you will push the settings in your favorite game and then find the performance ceiling. The maximum of what you can do on a Titan 18 hx is similar to the feeling of driving 80 mph on a highway without cars and then screaming as you pause with the traffic you hit your luck. Even with the NVIDIA GEFORCE RTX 5090 GPU, this huge laptop is still packing, despite the limitations of what the laptop GPU can achieve. This is not the Titan 18 HX’s point of view, but keep this breathtaking price tag in mind.

Using the latest high-end Intel Core Ultra 9 285HX CPU and RTX 5090 GPU along with 64GB of DDR5 RAM, I found that the Titan 18 HX meets the latest components under the benchmark of a full tower. To display these graphics, the laptop has a 4K mini-dominated display with clean visuals and good high brightness. It is still easy to reflect directly, so if you plan to keep this beast outdoors, keep that in mind. (It’s already bigger than a puppy, so why not play? I’ve never felt so spoiled when using a laptop. For the price you pay for this device, you’d better feel like you’re living in a lap of luxury.

The total number of MSI Titan 18 HX is $6,379. If you really don’t care about the cost, you can buy the more expensive Dragon Edition Norse Myth Myth Edition with a cover that includes Nordic embossed symbols and killer image of the killer dragon. Unless you plan to use this machine, it may cause more problems. It cost the dragon’s hoard, but even in the tests we reviewed, the price of MSI has risen. Other MSI products, such as its Claw 8 AI+, have seen prices rise in the past few weeks, and the Titan 18 HX is no exception. MSI did not answer questions about whether these price increases were related to Trump’s tariffs. Either way, it’s clear that MSI is not alone in feeling the pressure of the White House’s obsession with import taxes.

At this price, if I recommend it to anyone, even those who can afford it, the Titan 18 hx must be a perfect specimen. With these specifications, the device requires a quality thermal system and MSI manages the heat with amazing elegance. You can bet Keister This device spits out some hot air enough for my mouse hands to sweat beside the side exhaust. The rest of the airflow exploded the rear vents. After playing with your laptop for about 15 minutes, the area around the function line keys burned so much that if you put your fingers there, it would go from uncomfortable to painful touch areas.

However, when you actually use it, the Titan 18 HX still feels comfortable. Hot words for laptops include the SSD’s steam chamber and dedicated copper heat pipe (it has four SSD slots, although one is a PCIE Gen 5 and the rest is a Gen 4), putting the heat in the palm and away from most players, most players resting on their sensitive touch points. It’s a joy to play on this laptop. Titan 18 HX comes with a complete mechanical keyboard with cherry switch. Each key is tapped with a soft clapping hand, it is not too stiff but not light enough to accidentally press the wrong key at the wrong time. If I have a small complaint, it is that unless you sit in a truly dark room, the per-key RGB lighting isn’t that bright or eye-catching. The seamless touchpad uses tactile sensation, using a motor to simulate the click of a normal mechanical pad, feeling that there is no glassy texture that is too smooth on other laptops.

MSI claims its devices can draw 270W of power for CPU and GPU to complete gaming tasks. This “maximum boost” setting can also push 200W to the CPU, which will improve performance on intensive tasks. This means the Titan 18 HX manages to exert a lot of power on the components that need the game the most. Perhaps what surprised me was the effectiveness of Intel’s core Ultra 9 285HX as a gaming CPU. In the benchmark, it managed to meet or beat the performance of the Intel Core Ultra 9 285K desktop-level CPU in some cases. Intel’s latest desktop processor wasn’t quite good last year, especially for gaming purposes, but the fact that this laptop CPU is exactly the same as the desktop, suggesting that Intel is comparable to the high-end Lake Arrowhead series chips.

Outside of the game, the Titan 18 HX has achieved its goal in terms of more powerful rendering tasks. It manages to meet the benchmark below our test, which presents a scenario in Blender, which is actually equivalent to the field we get on a high-end desktop PC. The Titan 18 HX is just as fast in our 4K to 1080p video encoding tests. As for the game, that’s what gets more complicated.

The benchmark results in the game are excellent in titles similar to titles Cyberpunk 2077, The Titan 18 HX manages to get 60 fps at 4K and has a super setup without any upgrades. This is a similar story, e.g. Horizon Zero Dawn Remade and Black Myth. However, there is a performance cap if you want to maximize every ray tracing setting in very demanding games Marvel’s Spider-Man IIyou will find a wall that will pour your FPS into under 50 and into a 40-second low at certain dense moments. Here you can technically take advantage of NVIDIA’s often stimulating multi-frame Gen functionality with DLSS 4. This actually inserts multiple “generated” frames between each frame that the PC actually renders. With many technical scams, this can improve your frame per second, so 50 or 60 fps can be on 2x frame Gen or in a low 100 fps set to 4x for 200 fps.

Multi-frame Gen is not a magic bullet for low frame rates. You still need to be close to 50 or 60 fps before you can avoid graphic artifacts that can destroy the graphics of the picture. This is especially undesirable if you plan to focus primarily on multiplayer, as frame growth will certainly increase latency, which will affect how the PC tracks the mouse movement between frames. That being said, I don’t have to worry about your frame speed in most multiplayer shooters, whether it’s Marvel competitors or Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. The laptop version of the RTX 5090 is a top-notch card, and frankly, there is no other consumer-grade card you can buy more powerful than it. The GPU will be the most important thing about most games, but even then how much you can honestly expect from it.

Still, even if you have the physique of a bodybuilder, it isn’t your everyday laptop to carry on your way to lift the eight-pound behemoth for more than a few seconds. MSI can’t get rid of the old problem of gaming laptops: battery. On the balanced performance settings through Windows 11 and MSI’s Center software, I couldn’t even plug it in for two hours. While playing, I couldn’t even insert for two hours. And you’re lucky to get more than an hour before the battery runs out. After all, the Titan 18 HX is a replacement for your desktop, which requires you to use it from your desk or at least close enough to some power supply.

You can only expect so much from a laptop, but the Titan 18 HX represents the top of modern hardware that is technically possible. When the current only Razer Blade 16 configuration costs $4,900, the RTX 5090 pays over $5,000 for the higher frame in a thinner chassis, and the larger (albeit non-fiber) display isn’t that ridiculous. We can expect that the upcoming Razer Blade 18 or other large laptops that haven’t seen a day (again another factor in the Trump trade war) will be on MSI’s massive devices or below MSI’s giant devices. MSI’s Titan 18 HX is close enough to a supercharged prefabricated desktop that I could even think of as an alternative to a full gaming rig, especially if you only need one device to plug in a TV or drag it to the bedroom to suit gaming needs. Although as tariffs continue to increase costs and reduce availability, I won’t blame you for viewing the 18 HX as an overabundance idol. I’m not a religious type, idolatry is a sin that this powerful technology may be worthy of admitting.
