Walmart delivers drones to 5 major cities and 100 stores

Walmart’s futuristic plan to deliver orders through flying robots is closer to reality as large retailers expand their drone delivery plans to five major cities and over 100 store locations.

Shoppers in Atlanta, Charlotte, Houston, Orlando and Tampa, operated by drone provider Wing, will be promised in 30 minutes or less. This will increase the program with five states (Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina and Texas), including partnerships with Drone Zipline, including existing operations throughout Texas. According to Walmart, drones have been delivered more than 150,000 times since the program was launched in 2021.

Drones can be shipped to homes up to six miles from participating stores, and orders must range between 2.4 pounds and 10 pounds, depending on the fleet at that location. When their drones are on the road, inform the customer and slowly lower the packaging to the ground through a cable upon arrival.

“As the first retailer to expand drone delivery, Walmart once again demonstrates its commitment to leveraging technology to enhance our deliveries, focusing on speed,” wrote Greg Cathey, senior vice president of transformation and innovation at Walmart America. “As we look forward to, drone delivery will be a key part of our redefinition of retail commitment.”

How to Order Drone Delivery

Once Walmart shoppers are available, the drone delivery option should automatically appear in the qualifying area – users should check the drone landing page link at the top of the Walmart homepage after logging in, or they can be notified when the program reaches them.

Get orders from flying drones:

1. Log in to your Walmart.com account.

2. Shop as usual and choose to check out.

3. Under Delivery Options for Orders, select Delivery from the store.

4. choose Drone delivery From the store option.

5. Choose a day and time if you wish your delivery to yours Front yard, back yard or driveway.

6. Continue to buy.

Shoppers will be automatically alerted if their order reaches the maximum weight and carrying capacity of the drone.
